F.A.Q's

Q: What method of payment is available?
A: We accept cash, company cheques or payment via direct deposit. Unfortunately, we do not accept personal cheques. Please note, company cheques and direct deposits must clear before vehicle is collected.
Q: Will my car be detailed upon completion of repairs?
A: We do provide our customers with a complimentary car wash and clean.
Q: Can you match my vehicles paint colour?
A: YES. Today's modern factory finishes incorporate multiple layers of highly specialised paints and we have made a major investment a PPG paint system. We take special pride in our ability to match factory finishes.
Q: Can I get a quote for the repairs over the phone?
A: No, but you can request an Online estimate on our website which will give us the basics required to give you an estimated cost. For a more thorough quote, we need to inspect the vehicle to be able to assess the full extent of the damage. You can make an appointment for a quote by calling or email us.
Q: Who do I pay the excess to?
A: If an excess applies, you must pay it to the repairer. Your excess must be paid prior to or upon collection of your vehicle.
Q: Can I get a courtesy car?
A:Yes, If you require a courtesy car that is not provided directly through your insurer, we can organise it for you at a small fee, Just let us know when you book in your car in availability dependent.
Q: Is there warranty on the repairs to my vehicle?
A: Yes, all repairs performed by BRB Smash Repairs are backed by a "lifetime of ownership" guarantee. This means that our work is guaranteed for the period that you own the vehicle. Please note that there are minor items NOT covered by our warranty which are:
  1. Normal wear and tear
  2. Damage caused by extreme exposure to the elements such as salt water and ultra violet light
  3. Damage caused by stone chips, bird droppings, tree sap, environmental fallout and pollutants
  4. Damage caused by neglect, abuse, accident or failure to maintain.
Q. What information will I need to give my insurer when lodging a motor vehicle claim?
A: When you lodge a motor vehicle insurance claim you will need to provide the following information from you and from any other parties involved:
  • Date and time of the accident
  • Make and model of the vehicle
  • Vehicle's registration number
  • Driver's and owner's name(s)
  • Driver's licence number
  • Insurance company for the other parties involved
  • Location of the accident
  • Whether police attended and any incident report number that you may have been given.
  • Once you have lodged your claim, you will be allocated a claim number, which we will require.
Q. How long will it take to fix my car?
A: While we have a good idea of the repair time frame, it is difficult to commit to exact times. The supply of spare parts can be an issue especially for manufacturers who don't keep spare in Australia and either incorrectly supplied or damaged parts.

For more complex repairs, it is not always possible to see the extent of the damage until the repairs have commenced and the body work stripped back. The last part of the repair is the mechanical component including wheel alignments, air conditioning re-gassing and electrical repairs or resetting. There may be issues with any of these. Sometimes specialists are required and we have no control over their scheduling.

Q. Will the colour match?
A: We use state of the art colour matching technology to give you a seamless finish, We endeavour to get the colour as close as possible to perfect. The newer the vehicle, the better the chances of this is. Plastics on vehicles such as bumpers, door handles, skirts, spoilers and mouldings are more difficult to match. Difference is colour can occur between plastic and metal parts even when they are painted at the same time. Using the same paint. This is caused by the fundamental differences in the surface properties of the two substrates.
Q. Can I choose my own repairer?
A: Yes. Most insurers will offer you choice of repairer even if they have their own recommended repairers, under state government legislation, it is illegal for insurance companies to force you to go to their repairer.

Don't be confused by misleading advice. It's your vehicle and you should have the right to choose your own repairer.
